Forgotten Plane Wrecks in NH

November 6 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Many plane crash sites in New Hampshire have been forgotten, but if you search you will find the unique stories of each of these crashes. This lecture will include a discussion on early navigation challenges and will then delve into the history of several crashes and the presenter’s exploration of the crash sites.

Crashes in this talk include: the B-18 Bomber in 1942, Northeast Airlines flight 792 in 1954, Northeast Airlines flight 946 in 1968, the Christmas Eve 1996 crash of a Learjet business jet, “the missing doctors crash,” and more.

Presenter Nick Wallner retired after managing the Concord Branch of AAA for 46 years. Seeking new challenges, he began in 1988 researching and locating lost airplane wrecks across New Hampshire. An avid hiker, he has completed the state’s 48 four-thousand-footers.

He is now a Granite State Ambassador who volunteers as a tour guide at the New Hampshire State House. When the NH House of Representatives is in session, he is one of the sergeants-at-arms.

He is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Concord, a member of the Concord Zoning Board, a ward clerk, and chairs the Everett Arena Advisory Committee. He has been a soccer referee for over 40 years, and he currently chairs the NH Soccer Association’s Disciplinary Board.

He has been married to his wife Mary Jane for 58 years and they have two daughters. Nick and Mary Jane live in Concord, NH.
