Hebron—The Newfound Lake Region Association (NLRA) invites you to get outside and do some winter exploring on your own. As we look across the frozen landscape, the natural world looks and feels like a very different place- even water is behaving differently! Look for NLRA to post activities and materials for outdoor fun by January 12. Between January 14 and 21, use our activities and resources to get outside and send us a photo or update so we know how it went. See how cold weather changes the behavior of water, get up close with snowflakes, and explore how animals deal with cold weather. This program is free and open to all.
Newfound Nature Challenge, along with other family programs and events, is part of NLRA’s year-round work to encourage residents and visitors to enjoy the natural beauty around them, learn more about the environment and how to protect it, and fall in love with the Newfound Watershed. By connecting the people of Newfound to the wonders around them, NLRA works to inspire the next generation of stewards and fulfill the mission of protecting Newfound Lake and its watershed. Along with programs like Newfound Nature Challenge, NLRA maintains Grey Rocks Conservation Area in all seasons as a place for people and wildlife alike. It offers a new conservation center, walking trails, a picnic area, fishing alcoves, and a non-motorized boat launch and is frequented by wildlife like loons, turtles, and bald eagles as well as people. Learn more about NLRA including other upcoming events at NewfoundLake.org.
